About Us
Yorkshire Anglican Learning and Education Partnership (YALEP) is a warm, welcoming and inclusive teaching school alliance. We have 14 Strategic Partners and more than 50 Alliance Members from a range of faith and non-faith schools throughout Kirklees, Calderdale, Barnsley, Wakefield and North Yorkshire, to offer a rich and diverse pathway for our trainees.
Yorkshire Anglican Learning and Education Partnership is based in the Lancashire and West Yorkshire Region and is led by Scissett CE Academy which was formally a Teaching School.
One of the great strengths of training with us is that you become a staff member from day one. We have a no compromise approach to delivering quality training. Trainees are placed in good and/or outstanding schools from a wide range of backgrounds. Our bespoke package will ensure that you have the opportunity to strengthen your skills and deepen your understanding through training, support and a personalised approach.
Yorkshire Anglican Learning and Education Partnership works with two providers, the Kirklees and Calderdale SCITT and Huddersfield University to deliver exceptional training to our students at primary and special school. Applications are welcome from candidates of all faiths and backgrounds.
School Direct- Kirklees and Calderdale SCITT
We are proud to be partners with Kirklees and Calderdale SCITT. Trainees selecting this option receive training through our School Direct Programme. Trainees are in school 4 days per week with 1 day at the SCITT base. Trainees are placed in the same school for the majority of the year, with a short alternative key stage placement in the Spring Term.
School Direct enables graduates to develop close links with local schools as well as receiving training from Kirklees SCITT, whilst training to teach at Primary level.
University of Huddersfield
We are proud to be partners with The University of Huddersfield. Trainees selecting this option receive training through a P.G.C.E Programme, receiving tuition at the Huddersfield University Campus. Trainees complete two alternate placements, one longer and one shorter. The training enables a developmental approach with self engagement, self assessment and target setting in order to build on strengths.
The P.G.C.E. route allows trainees to experience university life whilst training in a focused and structured teaching environment.
